Experience Wellington required some merchandising and clothing for their various retail spaces to promote Wellington, Poneke.
The Challenge: To develop a cohesive and visually impactful merchandise range, that was well sought after to reinforce the city’s commitment to art and creativity. A selection needed to be suitable to showcase key Pōneke Wellington landmarks and Icons, that would identify and portray memorable moments for visitors as collectables. These would be available at the six iconic Wellington experiences they offer: City Gallery Wellington, Capital E, Wellington Museum, Space Place at Carter Observatory, Nairn Street Cottage, and the Cable Car Museum.
The Result: A cool range of merchandise that projects the arts and culture heart of the capital vibe. The imagery and designs were impactful and the colour-ways appeal to a broad range of
diverse customer base. They have been well received and desirable collectable items. The Cable Car, the Cuba Street Bucket Fountain, Paddy the Dog, Carter Observatory Astronaut, Windy Umbrella were made into cute lapel pins. As well as a range of Tees featuring the Cuba Street, Bucket Fountain, and a Windy Umbrella image with the ironic wording, “Can’t beat Wellington on a Good Day” a phrase many Wellingtonians are often found verbalising! Poneke Bistro Tea Towel included imagery of the Cable Car, Bucket Fountain, Oriental Bay Boat Sheds, The Beehive, Kaori water Reserve to name a few. As well featured on Canvas Totes bags, and a custom kraft paper bag was also created, to pack the goodies purchased into. With messaging saying, “Todays purchase helped bring vibrancy to Poneke”.
