GSK were looking for an environmentally-sound solution for two of their brands. Ideally they wanted a NZ-made product that was practical but within a price point.
Blue Star Promote was asked to look into more sustainable options for their merchandising point-of-sale trays. We costed a few different substrate options and evaluated; how long these were likely to be in the market, what would happen when the messaging needed to change and end of life. After prototyping and reviewing, we decided to develop a hardy MDF point-of-sale tray for pharmacies. This was particularly exciting as it was a huge opportunity for a family business in New Zealand. Each tray was laser-cut and hand-made in New Zealand.
The Flixonaise trays were a huge success and very well received by merchandisers and pharmacies alike, this has meant that GSK is rolling out a similar point-of-sale tray from another of their brands, Otrivin which was then rolled out country-wide. This solution was entered into the APPA awards and went on to win the Sustainability Award.
